Ha,Ha,Ha, now i know why there's all these used Triumphs sitting on used bike lots, you figure it out they want a traditional motorcycle the new ones are a joke nobody that has ever rode a bike ever said ,….I want a bike with a bunch of electronic shit on it, they want a bike that if something goes wrong they can repair.
So they buy the new one and find out they been suckered, so they trade it in on an old one!
Its sad to think they don't grasp what people want.
This is why my car is a 1984. because I can work on it. The new ones you can't!
Look at how the japanese profited from british bike designs.
I guess they will trade their thruxton in in a kawasaki W-650 to get a new retro bike!
Or simply buy the new Royal Enfield that India makes I guess the fixed the wiring on them so that red is + and black is – .
A bike must look great and handle great and the buyer must be able to perform the maintenance on it. They do not want computerized crap on it!
People talk, people are talking Triumph could have been number one again,… but droped the ball. Fumble, ah ok I guess it will be rice grinders again.
Bike world thanks for the warning, now I wont buy one of the used new ones either.
I'll get and old 650.
Both awesome bikes
Loved this review, especially your which-horse-for-which-course comparison at the end!
First let me just say that your presentation on those videos is great. The delivery of the speech is just brilliant, and it seems to just flow out of you. This by far my favourite motorbike YT channel, and today I subscribed too. I have a question though, that does not seem to get answered, despite the fact that I have been looking at videos and text reviews for the past week. My last bike was a Yamaha MT-01, which now I've passed over to my brother. So I am looking for something that is for S twisty roads and city commute, with a bit of exposure to a ring road as well (I live in Manchester.). Something that has character, but more importantly pulls from below. Like the MT-01 which at 2500 rpm had huge amounts of torque (1690cc twin cylinder engine). I've looked at the Monster, the Diavel (love the look of the XDiavel, but the feet-forward position put me off), the Super Duke (both R and GT), the NineRT, the MT-10… you know.. along those lines. What would you recommend? Also, any reader comments are welcome too, I am sure some of you know exactly what I'm looking for.
Excellent and honest review and comparison for sure! Nice work!
How is this a shoot out obviously the bmw is a faster bike thrux is just looking less like a sport bike keeping up
This is an excellent review, very genuine and you explain your points very well. It felt like you had carte blanche to say what you wanted rather than being in thrall to one manufacturer or the other.
totally agree, BMW all the way.
Good review.
This is the best bike review/comparison I have ever watched. Perfect.
absolutely spot on review, very well done – as a motorcyclist with a few more years experience, I'm often watching these review video's to see if the reviewer "get's it" by that I don't mean a "flan in the face" however.
I mean that the model, its design and purpose has been understood entirely, for a man of such young years (beautiful hair too, I miss hair), he reached the correct conclusion!!
The thruxton, is lovely but it's more suited to the "popping down the pub" camp whilst the Nine T is the best real world motorcycle is your spending your hard earned on a single bike!
Great Review
How much this cost??? Triumph looks amazing 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thruxton R! oh man just came in me trousers lol!
Really respect the journalism here – keeping it real and maintaining integrity.
Must have been difficult to choose ze German bike over the plucky British offering!
In the end I bought the Thruxton. The looks, fully adjustable suspension and view from the seat swung it for me. The top yoke, clip ons and dials are such a pleasure to look at whilst riding. For my body the ergonomics are just right. Once over 50mph the air holds me and the faster I ride the further I slide back in the seat and a cushion of air takes more of my weight. So far I feel fine after 3 hours. Great to have the choice of two wonderful bikes.
I'm a BMW rider because: I'm tired of maintaining a messy, oily, chain drive system. Thanks BMW!
Strange that this review is the opposite of so many others, the Triumph in other reviews is the better handling bike.
2:15 "1200 HP"?? What is Triumph trying to pull??
Did you set/adjust the preload on the Thruxton before your ride to get the bike geometry right? I cant believe Triumph would of made this bike poor in the twisties? You can see the damping setup was very different on these teo bikes too. My Africa Twin was a dog of a handler on factory suspension setting, 5 minutes adjustment transforms a bike.
It's funny that the BMW doesn't have any up to date electronics, as it doesn't actually look at all retro/classicly styled to my eyes, aside from being naked. The Triumph has 99.9% nailed the styling but they should put an alloy tank on it for the total cafe racer racer vibe
Great review ,so eloquently delivered.
Good vid but I think your missing the point of the triumph witch I would love to be able to afford, remember it's smiles per miles with these bikes and for that the triumph comes out tops.
I find this an impossible task. I'd just keep testing until the manufacterers sent in the bailiffs to confiscate them. "Find some nice roads" in the Lake district? hard to find any that are not fab!
Why would anyone who ever wants to get home after a ride choose a Triumph?
An honest review from a true English gentleman. For me BMW all the way, just for the stock exhaust sound alone is incredible
Great review. Honest and informative. I think the BMs exhaust is stock too.
BMW overall better bike but price reflects it. You get what pay for.
I find it funny that this guy pretty much shitted all over the Thruxton R and now works for Triumph.
What is your jacket I must have it!
Rode the R9T with a view to buying one, but the main detraction was that every time I put my foot down at traffic lights….I banged my shin on the right hand side cylinder. Not much fun if you're tall
can anyone tell me what boots the lad's wearing?
