Steve McQueen’s 1912 Indian Motorcycle Tire Change

Mechanic Carlos explains the difficulty in changing out the front tire on our 1912 Indian Motorcycle the was formerly owned by Hollywood icon Steve McQueen.

First offered for sale in 1902, one year before Harley-Davidson, Indian motorcycles quickly earned an excellent reputation for quality and innovation. The bikes produced during their tenth anniversary retained the firm’s well-proven, one-cylinder engine and were equipped with chain drive, an advanced feature during a time when the large majority of motorcycles were fitted with belt drive. Indian’s record setting performance in American speed and distance racing earned the firm great acclaim during the day and bolstered their position in the marketplace. This success was appreciated even by collectors such as Steve McQueen, who favored Indians and counted a large number of them in his extended collection.
