Well done Mike. I'm back here in NZ, a Harley owner (& doin a Honda bobber project very soon) – you are a real credit to NZ and make me proud to be a NZer.
I'll never have the money for one of these works of art unless the job market gets alittle better around here. But, I just have to say that this bike is a real beautiful machine. I think they would catch on in a hury here in western PA but for the fact that people here haven't heard much of them yet. I have been mentioning them to some of my fellow motorcycle enthusiasts but they don't check out anything they can't see.
Put a 38/39 speedo on there and my bike is done. This is by far the most beautifull "new" bike there is. I love the old Indians but this bike rocks my world.
Now I just have to win the lottery and then you can send one over to europe.
Looks fantastic, The only thing that i would dump – is the disc brakes!
Otherwise you have a very ancient looking Chief!
If only Kiwi would start producing the legendary 1920's Indian Scout… Now that would be a top seller! ( I used to own one, the handling is "out of this world".
Fabulous video, & thank god somebody is still making "Real" Indians!
Give these guys a medal.
Kind regards, Gary.
Mike.
Really well done mate. I'll never consider the Gilroy onwards Undians as remotly related to the Marque, however your machines are stunning, something I'd never say about the other HD clones.
Good on you.
2002, 2003, part of 2004. Later, they were started again under different ownership and produced an upgraded version of the engine from 2009 – 2011. I have a 2002 model Chief with the 100 inch engine. They had flaws, but are good running engines.
Thank You . I wonder if the Research and Development of the 100 inch motor did them in . I have a 74 shovelhead , but I've always had a soft spot for Indians .
I think it was a combination of things, they had several issues with the Power-plus 100 when it first came out. Bad crankshafts being one of the major engine issues. The other typical recalls were for drive belt misalignment which caused a high pitch noise when you backed off the throttle, the transmissions were an aftermarket model that were very hard to shift or find neutral, they also had defective starters. They sent out at least 4 recalls within the first year of having my new 2002 Chief.

Many Thanks for the info .
Breaks not native))!
Now, if Indian would just put the new 110 Thunderstroke engine in that style of bike I would trade in the Gixxer 1000 and go cruisin'…….:)
And if they did wouldn't be an Indian's stupid.
What do you mean Indian Motorcycles never die… You're right they just break down alot.
