I think with the use of that dangerous of material I would much rather sand with d a. maybe 30 minutes work with sanding and no health concerns
why strip it? Just use some d.a and prime that bitch
I would get upset if someone called me Bud or Dude all the time.
better put on a life jacket incase there still gas in the tank ya mind drown in. Dude get on with the video and cut to the end product after each step while still showing how its done. dont teach someone else in the video because it drags out the video time!

if you were to clean the inside of the gas tank an seal it. would you buy a top brand por-15 kit or just buy the por 15 gas tank sealer and clean the inside with vingar and water??????
This is the way to do it. My 1979 GS750E thanks you.

what a fuckin douchebag
i never comment. i just wanted to say i've seen a lot of diy videos and this one is extremely well done. I know its simple and not overdone but thats what makes it fantastic. You guys seem to actually know what youre doing, you seem to really care about it and it shows in your video! Thank you very much
Pete, I bought a CRX and my son watches your channel in hopes to help work on it. Here is a post that I made on Facebook thats funny. I watch your channel as well because of my 6 year old. Its too much lol. Here you go. Take care!
So my son comes to me this morning and says, "Daddy when are we going to make Rex look better and get a new muffler?"
"When Daddy has the money in the budget, Bear" (sons name)
"Daddy, the doors have surface rust coming through the door panel, the fenders suck and the hood needs a prime job!"
"Ummm, Bear? Where did you learn this?"
"From Pete the DIY car guy and Eric the car guy on youtube. As long as I don't say the bad words from Pete, I'm ok but he's funny."
By now I am cracking up inside because Pete has NO filter on his mouth but he is good and funny to watch.
I do have some rust coming through the door panel and since Bear is crazy about the CRX I have to have him help me do some work on her. I'm thinking a prime job for the hood. There is a product out that is a Xylene base primer that is sandable and has a rock solid base but its expensive. The rust on the panel I was thinking of pouring a ceramic liquid on the inside to seal the rust and fill the pours and change the chemical bondage so it does not come back. This is experimental though. What would be a good primer in a spray can to make my Rex ready for fixing and look a little better. I'm (was) working from the inside out. Please help and Bear Thanks you guys and loves our Rex.
that kid looks like the evil kid off the cartoon toy story who blew up toys.
hey pete what would it cost me if i shipped a gas tank and fenders from ohio? its a honda valkrie motorcycle.prices in ohio are crazy.not trying to be a tight wad pete.its just a black tank and fenders if you have any interest just let me know.i know you do things right and want to enjoy mike bike this year.
I just picked up a 72 Honda CD175 in GREAT condition, except 2 things. The lower triple tree had the steering limit tabs sheared off, and that caused the tank to be dented on both sides from the forks. Fixing the triple tree is no issue, I'm just ordering the new part. This is REALLY going to help me out getting the tank looked after. Thanks a lot!
did you sand that befor you put that on to help the stripper bite into the paint becasue i tried this on a tank and it wont even do anything
It's Cautious not causeus
This guy is fucking coooooooool
Hi Pete, This would also we the way to go stripping a factory paint job with clear coat etc? I'm bobbing and painting a Yamaha V star.
Thanks, love the vids!
I just can't help but to think of so many stripper jokes while watching this….oh man I am crack'n myself up. "Always use protective gear with strippers"
Thanks Pete…
pete always great and helpful videos.i have yet to try this but getting ready to try it myself on my 2003 yamaha warrior tank and fenders the tank is in mint condition pete do i need to strip the factory paint or just scuff and paint.going to paint it black and air brush it.do i clearcoat the black then air brush or paint and air brush then clearcoat it.thanks pete im a newbie and love your videos.thanks my friend pete.

Hi Pete, I'm doing a paint job on my tank using spray cans. I have started on the underside to see how I do but I have got a small run in the paint. Any advice on preventing runs and sorting them out. I did try my best and thought I was only putting on light coats but may have been to close.
I've got a 2005 Road king i am going to repaint,i added a full fairing, tour trunk, and hard bags, what kind of prep will need to be done to these extra parts i have added? The directions say its paint ready,is there any hidden things i need to know befor i paint them? and what do you recommend
Why use expensive and dangerous stripper, when you can just soak the whole tank in lye and water? Better yet, hook up power and use electrolysis to strip, clean and remove rust! That's how I do my small engine fuel tanks.
