  • The main goal of the 5K maintenance is the oil and filter change. After owning several HD bikes, I have found them to be totally reliable with minimum disassembly and inspection. Since HD uses a lot of one use hardware (e.g. deformed locknuts for example), it is IMO important to replace the hardware after disassembly to prevent items from coming loose, esp. on long road trips. Everything I inspected on the bike was just as it left the factory – HD did a great job on assembling my bike and everything was functioning very smoothly – very pleased with this 2016 Road King, for sure. Of course, I keep the bike cleaned and waxed, which I think helps. I also live in a very dusty environment (Phoenix), so excessive lubing of items like levers and jiffy stands could lead to more wear as dirt and dust gets into the lube and becomes like sandpaper. Just my 2 cents worth!

  • What's the neat little yellow dump truck toy on the side? Nice bike, btw, but man that oil filter location is weird.

  • probably not an warranty issue; but if they tell me they suggest such and such an type of oil; im going to use that type of oil.
