2018 Star Venture Motorcycle Review
2018 Star Venture Motorcycle Review – Here are my thoughts after a brief, low speed test ride on the new Yamaha touring flagship the 2018 Star Venture. This is a great example of why you need to ride a bike before buying it and especially compare it to the direct competition before deciding. Specs and looks never tell the whole story. I will review the Eluder at a later date when it’s at a dealer with a better course.

10:25 Compraring a 650lbs bike to a 950lbs is just stupid, and a touring bike isn't suppose to go 500mph.
They wouldn't have turned the RPM down for the demo rides would they ??? Surprised if they DIDN'T !!
it gots the power….950lbs though.
does the handlebar look chintzy a little bit?
Great honest review, I had high expectations for the bike but your feedback brought it down to earth. Great job!
" Spread em and let em hang" haha!
Interesting…I believe this is the same engine as the raider, which obviously has tons of power. Maybe they made some changes for this bike?
What do you normally ride because you don't sound like your use to big tourers as I have had goldwing s for years and now victory vision and the things your complaining about i.e. The dash view ,handlebars and wide tank are the same on all the ones I have had .
Mmmmm I supposed to buying this one but after see the review I’m declining I’m opting for the Road king Harley-Davidson I will looking for the reviews we see
Great Review! Glad you were honest in it. I ride an 88 Yamaha Venture currently and have owned a 99. I must say Yamaha has really lost me on this one. I feel like the "Star" line is going to be losing more credibility with this bike, and I think there are going to be many unhappy customers.
I love the look of the bike BUT: it needed liquid cooling, V4 1800cc motor, 240 rear tire! I will go with the new Honda Goldwing 2018 because I’m sure u can feel the power better!
Sitting in traffic 96 degrees is not a good indicator of a mile eater
air cooled might be great for Canada or Alaska? thoughts
kick it over… whatever falls off isn't supposed to be there…lol. man that thing is ugly all day. but at least it's slow as hell…lol
Thank you very much for this honest review. I was VERY surprised that Yamaha stuck an air cooled engine in there, and with all the do-dads around the engine, you can hardly see the V-Twin configuration. I am hoping you gt a chance to review the new GoldWing! Thanks again and keep 'em coming, ride safe.
I owned a Stratoliner so I don't need to ride The Venture before I buy it.
You don't look at the ground when riding. You look ahead and that ishow you know whats going on.
The VMax engine would have been fine but common sense did not prevail.
I did not have that heat problem with the Stratoliner.
Venture rims, engine, transmission and a restyled batwing should have went to a new Stratoliner.
Well it is December 15th and I still have not seen the new Venture. I think they need to go back to the drawing board or just let me spec it. VMax engine and thats it.
Great review sir. I was so interested in this bike but your honest and thoughtful review has caused me some pause. Thanks for focusing on what matters most…the ride. Great job.
