Spotlight: Old Royal Enfield Bullets junked for fancy Harley Davidsons in Didi’s Bengal

West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee, who has all along maintained her states finances are in a mess courtesy the financial mismanagement during the CPI(M) rule, has decided to induct fancy, expensive top-of-the line Harley Davidson motorcycles.

The new Harley Davidson motorcycles will be used to escort VIPs in the state. Harley Davidson Street 750 coming with a price tag of over 5 lakh rupees, will replace the brilliant Red Royal Enfield motorcycles which were in use till now.

Mamata Banerjee, one of the most vocal opponents of PM Modi, has time and again leveled charges of step motherly treatment by the Centre for her state.

Given her criticism of the NDA government, the chief minister who claims that her state has over 3 lakh crore of debt has decided to induct 12 street 750 cruiser bikes that costs 3 times a Royal Enfield.

With expectation that more such bikes may be inducted going forward, this is not the first time that a state has decided to induct Harley Davidson bikes.

The question we are asking is – For a state that cries massive indebtedness, is it fair to splurge tax payer money like this? Since these bikes will be used for escorting VIPs, is this a mere replacement of the Lal Batti culture.
