It was second hand, (exchanged for the Armstrong, see my other videos) and after years of having secondhand vehicles i'm used to finding oddities.
The welded portion could well be as it left the factory, it could likewise be the hamfisted attempts of a previous owner, like I said though it is well repaired and clear of the mating surface.
I know another owner who had the same silicone experience and his was from the factory like that, who knows, call it character and carry on, 🙂
Further to that, I can't say who what why or where for the problems it has, it could have been three owners ago or even as said in Chennai.
Had I bought it on the basis it was MOT'd all good and nothing needed then i'd have been considerably more upset. I'm just looking forward to getting it running, tested and terrorising the local mopeds
Yes, the feed pipe that splits into 2 is the oil feed for the head, this comes from the scavenged oil in the sump.
Yes, the gasket material was WAY OTT, it's been overbored to 0.040 already so I know it's been apart and the previous owner clearly got carried away, the bottom gasket doesn't need sealant at all.
can you do a video on how to remove the head for newbies?
I sure can, Well, it'll be kind of a reverse of that as I have the head to re-assemble once i've honed the bore and fitted new rings.
I'll try and remember to do a talk through the procedure when i get round to re-assembly, it is very straightforward, the only real problems you'll encounter are if the washers have squished gripping the studs, you have to get a bit brutal in that case but other than that it's a very straightforward procedure applicable to most OHV single cylinders.

I think the short pushrod is inlet and long one is exhaust
@Jithesh Ramesh
I think you might well be right about that and apologies for any confusion
"Spaghetti string's", more like Miner's Snot.
