“My name is Roland Sands. I’m a motorcycle builder, designer. Stoked to bring things in my head to reality. That’s what it is all about: bring an idea to life. I mean there’s no more complete circle than that. That’s the challenge, you know. I was around motorcycles, I mean, since I can remember, really. It’s kind of been in my blood. When I was 18, it was like a drug addiction, man. Nothing else in my life really mattered a whole lot. It was like, ‘I’m going to go out and ride and race and try to win.’ So, that’s what I did for about 10 years. And I didn’t know that I was going to be a national champion, and I didn’t know that I’d end up winning national road races, and breaking track records, and racing at the highest level. I really wanted to go make something of myself that didn’t really have to do with anybody else because I knew no one would be able to take that away from me, you know. Pushing myself seems like a way of life. Every time I was on a bike I’d push, and I’d always push past the limit. And now I really get the majority of my satisfaction from my creation. I don’t know. Some people call me one of the top builders. I don’t know, I guess I am. But, what’s different is, in this realm of building motorcycles, it’s not about being the best as much as it’s about just creating and wanting to build new stuff and cool stuff. To constantly innovate is the challenge, to always do something new and different. And today it’s so tough because there are so many people building great things, so it’s hard to stand out, you know. So you have to really push. Creating something, it is about bringing something to life. A motorcycle, to me, is a personification of that because it involves so many different things. It involves art, fabrication, design, engineering, rubber, steel, aluminum, titanium, paint, wood, whatever you can throw at it. So motorcycles, to me, are like the finest way to bring an idea to life and making it real and making it something you can actually touch, feel and ride. That’s what it’s all about. Being on a bike for me is just essential to life. It’s the purest expression of freedom and mobility. The faster you go, the harder you ride, the harder you push, you feel it so much more on a motorcycle. If you’re going 100 miles per hour, you know it. It’s training physically but also mentally because you put so much focus into it. When you’re on a bike it just strips everything else away. It just makes everything else in your life disappear. I’ll never be away from bikes. It’s just what I do, what my family does, what everyone I know does. It’s safe to say I’ll be around for a little while. I don’t see any other way for me personally but to just go after it every day. It just makes sense to me, so that’s what I do. Life is one big project. You got to hit it every day.”

Very good video. There are so many things about it that hit home for me. Mainly: "When you're on a bike it just strips everything else away. It just makes anything else in your life disappear." Few other words about motorcycling could be more true. Very well spoken, Roland!
The person or team who created this video has the creativity to show us the "Roland Sands" of our time.
There are hundreds of "Roland Sands" in all walks of life: out there.
But they won't be noticed by those of us who aren't close to them unless a talented film person tells us about them.
Gotta love the movies!

Best oil commercial ever!
This was so awesome! Love the editing and creativity!
Of all the next generation bike builders I really like Roland Sands. His bikes are cool but probably not the most spectacular or amazing. They are simple bikes that are fun to ride. Roland just seems like a real dude doing what he loves regardless of what anyone else thinks. He is a cool dude and seems to be very genuine. Not some overly egotistic want to be. He is not trying to be some bad boy. Roland keep on building great bikes but more importantly keep on doing what you love!
Can someone tell me when Roland "raced at the highest level"? I don't seem to remember him ever racing MotoGP?
I wonder how many people could do what Roland has done if they're daddy owned Performance Machine?
"…makes everything in your life disappear" That's exactly why I love riding my bike. It's almost like meditation for me. I hate parking and turning off the engine, cuz that's when reality kicks in. Great movie
Great video. Awesome cinematography!
Felt like watching a really good movie. Really really like the "sound" editing. Great job!
excellent video- I like Rolands stuff
やべーかっこよすぎる
Awesome!… Great video!
By his own estimation, RS is just one helluva guy!! I will be so pleased when this dork is put out to pasture like the OCC fools. Sands is popular for some reason, but he is a tireless self-promoter, and there seems to be a market for the lackluster product he offers. As PT Barnum once said–there's a new fool born every minute.
I saw Roland last month in Vegas..he looks like crap maybe sick or cracked out
i always wondered what happened to john conners friend from T2
