Oil Change in UCE EFI Royal Enfield G5 2009 Motorcycle
Oil Change of EFI UCE Royal Enfield Motorcycle G5 2009.
*presoak oil filter in clean oil before placing in filter housing*
ADDITIONAL DRAIN PLUG IN LATER MODELS:
Newer models after 2012 have an extra plug at front of right crankcase, which should also be opened. That removes about 400 ml oil from crankcase. In that case, fill with 2.2 liters of clean oil.

nice video. You have explained in quite detail. One question, why do you change oil so frequently (1500-2000). RE recommends changing after 6000kms
Thanks dude….. dis video is really helpful……..
Just got a G5, and this video was incredibly helpful. Thanks Singh…hope to see more maintenance videos produced by you on YouTube.

awesome video! thanks!
Thank you Singh! This is great! But I need related advice. I overfilled my oil in my Bullet 500 B5. It just needed topping up, but I topped up too much. What is the best method to drain off a little? I am thinking open the oil drain bolt but not all the way, or hold it really close to opening, and just let some oil run out, and replace bolt quickly. Your thoughts (I feel stupid for having overfilled, but live and learn, I guess!)
@bmccfeaturewriting
I like your idea of loosening the drain bolt gradually, one turn at a time, until oil starts dripping. Keep holding the bolt between your fingers, pushed up softly and don't let it come out completely. If the bolt comes all the way out, the oil will rush out fast – in such a case you can still close the drain though it will be more messy.
Happy riding your B5 !
Hi Singh, Thank you for the helpful video. I just recently bought a bullet C5 and was looking at the oil level – don't really see any oil at all. So put the bike on center stand, started the engine let it run for a minute and stopped; then after around 15 min checked the oil level – I still don't see any oil through the oil level window.
Also, after idling for 3 min the engine RPM reduces and finally stalls.
Please advice, would really appreciate.
Sajiv: Congratulations for getting C5.
Lean bike slightly to right and look for oil in window, If oil is visible, it has some oil though not enough. If no oil at all even after tilting bike, then do not run bike and inform dealer.
The oil level should be just near the top line. Do not overfill (not above the top line), because oil goes into breather tube and then to air filer.
Increase the idle RPM of bike – it is very likely set a bit low which causes it to stall after some time.
sirr i want to know that what type of engine oil is used in classic 500cc…
Hi Singhg5,
How much oil do we need to put for a C5 UCE engine? I see in some forum where it is discussed as putting around 2ltr or 2.2ltr.
Also, the bike has around 2100 miles and it got the 300mile and 1800mile service; what kind of oil do I use now? I was thinking about Mobil 1 V-Twin Motorcycle 20W-50 Full synthetic oil.
Please let me know your input. Thanks in advance!
I see in enfield forum that you have already put more than 20K miles!! 🙂
Safe and happy riding!
Good day!
Hello Sajiv:
I add 1.7 to 1.8 liters oil. Any motorcycle specific oil 20W-50 is fine in warm weather. In colder temperature 15W-50 is better. Full synthetic is good choice since you have already done two oil changes. Happy riding your Enfield !
Thanks man !
thanks for the video…helped me alot =]
I own a Classic 500 (2010). According to my owners manual it needs 2.75 liters of oil.
So many be the newer engines have 1 liter more.
Even my 2009 G5 Manual states 2.75 litres CAPACITY.
Filling with that much oil overfills engine. Oil will be blown into breathing tube and reach air filter, which gets blocked.
Fill between MAX and MIN markings on the Oil Check Window on right side of crankcase, keeping motorcycle absolutely straight vertically. That will be correct amount and it is between 1.7 to 1.8 litres.
Thanks man
Thanks for the clear instructions. It looks like even I can do this!
Singh nice video.. Is it recommended to warm up the engine before changing oil .I used Motul 300V 15W50 for my 2010 TBTS. I changed the oil wen the engine was cold, gave the engine a few soft kicks and moved the bike from left to right and repeated the procedure till I thought the old engine oil was fully drained out this procedure was recommended by a friend. but wen I changed the oil this time and replaced the oil the oil color was kind of brownish, could that be because of not warming up.
