M20 after post decoke shakedown

View from the left side of the bike immediately after the post rework shakedown. As well as the decoke, the contact breaker gap was reset; it was nudging 20 thou instead of 12 which was probably advancing the timing. The test gadget was giving some odd results suggesting a bit of flutter on the points; this could have been weakening the spark a bit too. Setting back to 12 thou seems to have sorted all that.

The first run suggests she’s a bit happier now, although still not completely happy off the choke until thorughly warmed up. Next step is to get the tickover set and work out why the battery’s not charging. Oh, and buy a 6v battery charger – all my other bikes have been 12v!
