Indian Motorcycle: The Spirit of Munro
Between the years of 1926 and 1961, one man from a small town in New Zealand dreamed of setting a land speed record on a 1920 Indian Scout. In 1962 at the Bonneville salt flats that man’s dream finally came true.
To honor the past and power the future, Indian Motorcycle built the Spirit of Munro, an all-metal tribute bike which would house the new Thunder Stroke 111™ engine. On May 5, 2013 the bike was run on a dry lake bed in California. A tribute to the great Burt Munro, and a celebration of the Indian Motorcycle that is yet to come.
ABOUT THE SPIRIT OF MUNRO:
Fully custom-built, the Spirit of Munro is an all-metal tribute to the racers and mechanics throughout history who have collectively built the legacy of record-breaking racing performance and strength that is Indian Motorcycle.
The motorcycle is named in honor of Burt Munro’s “Munro Special,” the historic 1920 Indian Scout that broke the under-1000cc land-speed record in 1967 at the Bonneville Salt Flats as famously portrayed in the motion picture “The World’s Fastest Indian.”
The Spirit of Munro was constructed by Jeb Scolman of Jeb’s Metal and Speed in Long Beach, CA. It was designed from the ground up to house the new Thunder Stroke 111™ engine and showcase its awe-inspiring power and performance.

なんて素敵な…!
Whats the music in this video ? and is it on iTunes or something similar ?
Looks like they had better tires than Burt did.
A normal motorbike with a rocket shape shell.
everything about this video was done so right. In love with the truck it reminds me of the 55 f-100. But the whole video is just a joy music and all.
merci pour cet hommage au génie de burt munro grand V MOTARD
Ótimo filme !!!Esse cara foi e é o cara !!!!
I am sure that Burt would approve.Beautiful tribute to an amazing man and the best American motorcycles ever built…thank you
I don't know how much of the movie "the World's Fastest Indian" is true, nevertheless it's one of the most inspiring and moving stories I've ever heard or seen and you've paid this man a great tribute creating this motorbike. His spirit still lives! :')
Great tribute to a braver man than I'll ever be.
SUPERBE !!!!!!
Quelqu'un connait il la bande son ?
fell asleep. what happened?
That's a sweet looking tribute!
stunning bike. Would love to see it in person.
5 errores
it would of been cool to see them side by side riding into the distance
Awesome tribute machine, too bad they didn't film that at Bonneville.
wow!
Stunning tribute and sound, Bert and Tony Britten – two awesome Kiwis, vision with guts and tenacity. Legends.
Spoilt by useless music as most seem to add when all people want to hear is the engine, be it cars or bikes, we do not want music spoiling the experience.
Sorry but if you want to build a replica make it at least look the same! Nice try but it don't look like the real one. Or yeh to all the people that dis like this video go and flush yourselves down the crapper!
That is great. Thanks.
Beautiful bike. Nice job.
that was no Indian! just some cheap Polaris wearing the Indian name. the only spirit that lives on, are the Kiwi Mikes Indian replicas!
Who chose the woefully shit music?
To bad you didn't know that Burt Munro's nephew lived in Ventura County California and is an amazing fabricator and could…..Would've been a lot cooler to have the bike built by a relative of Burts!!……Oh well…..
munro was a legend
wow, thats awesome!!!!!!!!
Being a long time Bonneville racer myself – and having my land speed racing roots in motorcycles too… I had met Bert a few times at Bonneville in the early 1970s….Somehow, I don't think Bert would have complained about using the new engine in this tribute bike – or that it didn't look exactly the same….I am pretty sure that he would have talked these guys into letting him do the riding if he had been there in person….
Ride hard old friend – see you on the other side
A fitting tribute. No; it's not a replica but as tributes go it's first rate!
un hermoso tributo:)
Chills all over my body…a great tribute to a great man!
2:14 …….a bit late to start checking if it's true, or not…… Probably better done while building it.
Where was Indian when Burt was setting his records? Oh yeah, they were bust and out of business.
"If money is no object, what motorbike would you get?"
This.
A beautiful and moving tribute to a great Kiwi legend
Nick pick all you want. It's a great interpretation and hell of a life he lived.
Great Build, Sharp looking machine!! Big respect for Munro and his drive. Shame the video editors had that background music stomp the REAL MUSIC of the this Indian motor. When will video producers understand, Gear Heads love the sound of machines!!!
wish they'd tone down that music i'd rather hear the engine
