How To Jump-Start a Dead Motorcycle Battery
This brief video quickly demonstrates and explains the PROPER way to jump-start your dead or dying motorcycle battery using an external battery. Please note that while jump-starting a dead motorcycle battery can get you out of a jam, it should only be used when other options such as a battery tender, float charger, slow-charger, etc are unavailable. Bump-starting a dead motorcycle (getting it up to speed and then “popping” the clutch) is also preferable to this method as there is less risk to the motorcycle’s electrical system, though many new riders may feel uncomfortable with bump-starting because there is a potential to drop your bike. In any case, keep the rubber side down, and happy riding! -LoP-

At 1:55 You say: Check for corrosion. What else do you say after that?
If you succeed in starting your bike this way, chances are that your battery is still too weak to operate the lights and turn signals too, I would think. Or does the alternator always provide enough voltage for the lights to work, whether the battery is strong or not?
so you thought to put your good battery on CEMENT hmmmmmmmmmm
Instructions to hard,….
got dick stuck in Ceiling fan.
i love the humor in this vid
this worked a treat on my drz 400
Sure, I'll just carry a spare battery around with me, thnx
I did it with my car on yesterday im i screwed?
Thank you much!!
does it matter if the battery you connect it to is in a car? or does it have to be bike to bike?
I did jump start motorcyle and Im the donor..is it ok if I turn my motorcycle on while doing it? what can be the bad effect on my motorcycle? .. pls reply. .thanks
hello, i just got a quick question and hope you can help me out cause no garage can, my battery has to always be charged when i ride, when i close my bike, the battery dies and i have to charge it again. When i charge it i connect both jump cables to both sides of the battery, and i do not put the negative part in another metal place. I've spent alot of money on batteries. I would really like a reply.
PS: I've bought other batteries and they do the same thing, is it the battery's problem or my bike's problem?
I'm a ****tard. sitting here at a gas station thought my shit was dead but the key wasn't turned.
@missedrossum r u a phag ? dude get to the fkn point . stop with all the girly stuff you are a man
This video was both highly informative and funny as f*** LOL. Big props man!!:D
thanks great help!🙏🏼😎🤓
This was a very helpful video since my Battery Tenders weren't cutting it in keeping my battery properly charged in winter. I bought a cheap smallest battery for a Yugo at Walmart and will use it to start my two Triumph motorcycles every week if the temperature is at least 40% until spring. It was also good to know not to have a vehicle running if you jump the motorcycles from them. It will save you some expensive electrical work to your Bike.
or sett the bike in 2. gear run, release clutch and drive
if you already have a good battery, why don't you just switch them?
Thanks for the this,funny & informative 🙂
Very helpful, good narration. But the best part is its funny! I caught a hint of "listen to me you dipsh*t, you killed the battery and dont know what to do…." and just a dash of "i learned this the hard way." Hilarious 😀 Now off to jump start my dang bike…
that was fucking beautiful. thanks for the colorful instructions.
Who's mumbling in the background? It doesn't help!
THANKS MAN… REALLY HELPFUL
The music is such distraction – wanted to hear the sound of the engine – uncharged and charged. What a waste – this could have been a perfect instruction video! Nonetheless I will try… Thanks!
LOL, that's where he belongs. Hope you used good Duct Tape~!
help, I used a battery starter once and it worked, I didnt get to ride very long before I stalled and now no electronics will even come on with the same battery starter which should have enough charge. I also tried connecting it to a car battery. I did not start the car, like you said, but I did attach the jumper to both cables. I got this bike yesterday, now Im really sad :'(
Super helpful…. Now I understand why I d@mn-near f¥©ked up my truck battery trying to jump my motorcycle battery… Whew, that was f#=!&& close!
I bump start my R6 quite a bit (cheaper than a new battery) easiest thing in the world to do…I've heard all manner of people say bigger bikes need to be in 2nd or 3rd gear and you run and jump/bounce on the saddle…..I do mine in 1st and take a run (10 to 15 feet is all it takes) dump the clutch and hit the starter ….boooom
This video is awesome! Amusing and informative! Thanks! Now I'm off to jump start my Kawii.
I tried jump starting my bike with my car (turned off) and it seemed to help but it didn't turn over immediately or after waiting about 10 minutes (it seemed willing to start but not good enough). Any recommendations?
can i jump-start a 125cc scooter with a car battery? thanks
how do i stop these jump cuts FROM FLASHING ME IN THE EYES THE WHOLE TIME GOD DAMN HOW MANY CUTS DO U WANT TO TAKE MA NIGGA STOP DOING THAT SHIT I CAN NOT WATCH IT AT ALL
So you connect the negative/live end to the bikes frame..? That doesn't seem right…
In case you stall like a dick 😂
hey quick question what kind of bike is that???
thanks. It helped me a lot!
PS: I am not sure why you said that is important NOT to connect it to a running car battery. In my case (winter/cold about 1degree C), it started only AFTER I left the car running and charge the moto battery for about 3-5mins. When I've connected the battery, the car engine was stopped to avoid static.
Just wanted to say thank you so much for taking the time to create this video. I left my keys in my 2004 ninja 250 like an ass and i had the same battery issue in this video. Ill try to jump it in the morning
Mumkey?
why is this one of my favorite videos?
Quick question. Its probably been asked…. when connecting to a car, just follow the instructions in the video correct? WITHOUT turning on the car?
