Heard them at Daytona in 1971 – most impressive sound of them all. 'Elegant' might be fitting.
AWESOME SOUND!!!! BRITISH IS BEST
i don't think ive heard a better sounding bike
Way back when the triples were first raced in AMA pro class-c flat-tracking, the BSA and Triumph factory teams showed up at the Santa Rosa Mile in California with the new triples. It was the first time most of us had seen or heard them, and it was amazing.Â
Way back when the triples were first raced in AMA pro class-c flat-tracking, the BSA and Triumph factory teams showed up at the Santa Rosa Mile in California with the new triples. It was the first time most of us had seen or heard them, and it was amazing.Â
At that time, the Santa Rosa track had a corrugated metal fence outside the back straight, and that amplified the already awesome scream of the un-muffled triples (no one ran silencers back then. BTW, I despise silencers!) Â
During practice sessions, the triples were so loud that we could hear them over every other bike, including the Harley, Triumph and BSA twins (I was riding a BSA.) Â Give that some thought for a second; … while riding an unmuffled, megaphoned BSA 650, which was quite a screamer itself, I could clearly hear the triples, from hundreds of feet away. That was LOUD! Â
And besides shear volume, the triples had a beautiful tone to them when they were at full-tilt, sort of like a twin on steroids, to borrow a tired phrase. That was the day that Dave Aldana, who was BSA factory sponsored, though he was still a Junior and in a battle for the points lead with Triumph factory rider Don Castro, managed to absolutely destroy his triple in a crash on the back straight during practice. He walked away, slowly, as what was left of his bike was carted back to the pits, about half the size it was before it was compacted .
beautiful sound!!
A Symphony of sound.
great sound
Well don't those sound bloody wonderful!
Music to my ears…..Beautiful bikes!
What a sound! In comparision modern 4 cyl are only shit!
There are a couple of Rob North Rockets here in Oz. They've been killed off by vastly oversized CB750 Hondas which dominate the Period 4 class. The adrenalin is flowing again ! If I saw those things out racing, I couldn't resist having a go at them.
I've got an 850 Seeley Commando in the shed which is about to be fired up again. You've inspired me to get off my backside. Love the clip
This is without any comparison the coolest sounding motorcycles ever buildt! I wants my T160 back. Boy oh boy!
I want to drive one of them.
@gv2wheels My pleasure. Standing next to these machines was amazing not to mention deafening
You ALWAYS show the COOLEST bikes thanks for sharing my friend :))
