2016 Indian Scout (Victory Octane platform) – The Good & Bad – Test Ride – Dublin California
I bring up some immediate concerns, but this bike grows on me as i ride it more, so watch the full review to understand my viewpoint of my dislikes and likes on this motorcycle ! You will get a different viewpoint for sure.
I perform a test ride of the 2016 Indian Scout motorcycle at Dublin California at Arlen Ness. Same bike as the Victory Octane

I love the Scout! Only reason I picked the fz07 over the Scout, was the light price tag of CAD$6700 vs 11000 of the scout. However it will be my next bike , that's for sure! Love the look, the colors, the finishing, it's just a flawless piece of engineering. Enjoyed a lot your video review! Cheers from Calgary!
nice review, but 1200cc is not entry level anything, even in the Indian range
Awesome review. Indian should be paying you a commission. Helped me with my decision. Thanks…
Great review. I've been going back and forth on this or the Victory. .. I plan to go with the red with ABS brakes.
Catching the wind on this bike isn't really a bike negative…more of a rider negative. I ride my Vulcan 900c up and down I-35 all the time (with no windshield and doing between 70-90mph) and it doesn't bother me at all.
I took a Scout for a test ride recently. I'm 5'9" and the bike felt a little short and light compared to my Vulcan. But once I got used to that…its so maneuverable! And this bike can pull! It had more power than the Sportster 1200c I tried last year. Also, the Scout I rode had RCX Exhausts. They sound so much better than stock! And they crush Stage 1 pipes.
Lets do it !
My friend has an Indian Scout. I have an Indian Chieftain. I've upped the torque & horsepower on my Chieftain to stage 2 that includes stage one air-cleaner setup, stage 2 cams, Bassani pipes, computer map upgrade, and removal of the catalytic converters. With all the performance upgrades, his factory stock Scout still wins in a drag race. Of course my Chieftain weighs almost 400 lbs more than his Indian scout, and his Scout will never sound as good as a 111 Thunder Stroke with the Stage 2 cams.
Bought it last week. Indian Red with ABS. Thanks for helping to make up my mind 🙂
P.S. – Rear suspension is crap 😀 Still love it though.
Really nice looking bike if you like the Indian fenders which I do. Does it feel like a iconic Indian that you could cherish for decades, or is it more of a Polaris or Victory project?
That bike is beautiful!
Only laughing as I was watching this. Pretty much mirrors my experience riding one today for the first time. Wasn't sure I would like it when I sat on it in the dealership. When I took it out on the road… WOW! Very enjoyable bike that is just plain fun.
I truly do not understand the fact that you kept harping the "Wind in your face " complaint. This is not a full dresser already……Just sayin !
1200cc entry level? nope it's ligther but not an entry level bike.
lol…you stand near the swimming pool, yer bound to get splashed at times.
Sounds like there's some Scottish, or Irish coming through in your voice?
the bike is almost 12k, not under 10k. The smaller less equipped scout is under 10k us dollars.
nice review thanks! From riding the m109r with no windscreen to BOS > NY > BOS same day wind hitting you does tax your body but bothers each differently. great job!
Actually like this review a lot. While praising some aspects of the bike, you dig around in what could be improved on.
The images in the mirrors are not blurred at all here.
1133 cc's not 1200…
Given Indian's ongoing 0% apr financing for 72 months and $1000 for accessories on the Scout AND the name AND the tradition AND the color options for ABS models for 2017, there is no question where to put your money. I bought the Scout.
