2011 Corsa Motoclassica AHRMA Vintage Motorcycle Race At Willow Springs California
The 2011 Corsa Motoclassica AHRMA Vintage Motorcycle Race at Willow Springs raceway was a lot of fun. The crowd was bigger than I’ve ever seen it, and there were people of all ages there to watch the vintage motorcycle racing action. It was very windy. Sorry about the wind noise in the video. I wanted to make sure you could hear the sounds of the classic motorcycles, so I didn’t dub any music over it. Just about every kind of vintage motorcycle you could name was there: BSA, Triumph, Norton, Harley Davidson, Matchless, Benelli, Norton, Ducati, Indian, Vincent, and some brands I’d never heard of before. There were great deals on vintage motorcycles for sale, great racetrack burgers and chili dogs, great people, and the whole weekend was a lot of fun. A lot of riders were wearing gopro cameras, and I’ll be searching youtube for their videos over the next week. I hope you like this video of AHRMA vintage motorcycle racing at the Corsa Moto Classica at Willow Springs Raceway in Rosamond, California. If you weren’t there this year, make plans to go next year. I shot this in HD and also took some still pictures of classic vintage motorcycles with my Pentax K20D digital camera. The AHRMA puts on some great vintage motorcycle races.

@gordonemoore Good question. In December I was uploading a video per day, and YouTube sent me an email saying it was OK for me to post longer videos. After that they made me a partner, and said I could upload long videos with no limit on the file size, which is great. The Corsa Moto Classica video is full 1080p HD and is over 3 gigabytes in size, which is huge and against their normal rules. I hated having to chop things down to 10 minutes and do poor quality to keep size down. This is great.
@hoohoohoblin Thanks for the info.
I'd have bought something too 🙂 Now I'm pissed I did'nt pickup a TT500 last month. I'd love to do this vintage racing. What camera ya using here?
@cj33ward It's a JVC Everio GZ-HM320BU that shoots 1080p video and has a 20X optical zoom. I'm always looking for a bargain, and I got it refurbished for $199. They're cheaper than that now if you look around online. It's very light, so it works best if you bolt it to something heavy. For this video I had it bolted to a tiny mini tripod, but the video still came out jerky, with all the wind. Next time I'll use a full-size tripod or get some kind of steadicam.
What a great video! I would not have been able to resist the 350. My 1973 CL350 was one I saw at a bike show/swap meet. I ended up buying it a little later on, plus we got my husband a 1976 CB550. When we move to Texas, we can go to events out west. Looking forward to it!
@Lambretta1980 Thanks! I would have bought that bike for sure if I'd had my van and I didn't already have a bunch of project bikes in my garage. It's amazing how good those little 350s are when they're fully prepped for vintage racing. They're really fast and handle great.
Great vid thanks
@PaddyWackem Thanks. I'm really glad people are finding it and watching it. It's a great event with too many classic bikes to get on camera, but I did my best. I'll be back.
great vid! really loved looking at all the vintage gold in the paddock! i would absolutly LOVE to get my 1965 cb77 superhawk out there. actually just took her for a ride this morning!!
@miataman89 You should definitely go. It's a lot of fun, and the racing is really competitive and fun to watch. The sounds are amazing, and the people are great. There are also always a few great deals on classic motorcycles. If I brought my van, I would have brought home a CB350 last time I was out there, and a Triumph Tiger the year before. Riding my motorcycle there saves me a lot of money.
Been racing AHRMA MX for about 10 years now, always wondered what the road racing was like. GREAT video! Thanks for posting!
@2stroke1971 Thanks! I'm really glad people are watching it. Youtube sent me an email the week before the race, telling me I'm allowed to post really long videos, so I made this one to see if they'd take it, and they did. There was too much action to squeeze into 10 minutes. The Corsa Motoclassica is a great event, both because of all the vintage bikes, and all of the great people. I hope people see the video and come to the races to see it live.
dude classic rule.mcysu1
Hello, wanted to see if you had any more racing footage from the race that was going on at about 33:57 min into your video? Thanks, I was in it #606. I was in last place so it was boring to watch me compared to the rest. Cheers Ricky
@mobways I checked the original video, and that clip was only 17 seconds long. I shot a few more short shots of # 91, #35 & #117 going through the corner, but I didn't get get you an any of the video. My battery was dying, so I was just doing short hero shots of bikes battling through the corners. If I make it out there this year, I'll look for you and get you into the video.
You're wecome. The 2012 Corsa Motoclassica is in a couple of weeks, but I don't know if I'll be able to go. I originally shot this video because YouTube sent me a message saying I could make videos more than 10 minutes long, so I wanted to do something a lot longer. I'm really happy that it has over 33,000 views. I was pretty sure no one would find it and watch it, but I'm glad people are enjoying it.
this video needs more wind
Ha ha! It would be impossible for there to be any more wind. I don't know how those guys are able to race with that much wind and dust blowing around, but it's like that all the time there, so I guess they get used to it.
Awesome upload sir. With four kids, 30 plus min vid had my full attention, nice retreat. Those vintage racers looked sweet, cant wait to get my cb360 on the road.
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it. This event is always a lot of fun, and the crowd gets bigger every year. I made this video right after YouTube told me I could make videos of unlimited length. It would have been longer, but the battery in my video camera died.
NOW That is fun racing
Indeed!
I lived two miles east of the track for 22 yrs. It was my home away from home every weekend. Flattrack, road, just about everything I've raced there. Great place for a weekend.
It is a lot of fun, especially when they're running vintage races. It would be nice to live nearby.
Thanks! I"m really glad people are finding this video and watching it. I can't believe it's gotten over 78,000 views. It's a great event every year, and the crowd keeps getting bigger. In Los Angeles we have a lot of younger people starting vintage motorcycle clubs and going racing, so the Corsa Motoclassica should stay alive for quite a while.
Sound like little airplanes hah
Thanks! Yeah, it would be sad to lose the race before it starts, but everyone in the CB160 class has fun no matter who wins. All of the other race classes start the race with running, warmed-up motorcycles.
So many types of bikes. how come i don't see the Yamaha Virago XV535 ?

Fantastic video! Happy Christmas to all Ninja fans. Winter warmup for my bike:
