Tim Rhys-Roberts in 2009 lost his wife Wendy to multiple organ cancer. It was one of her last wishes that Tim do this ride around the UK to raise money for the amazing people who had looked after her,the Birmingham Treatment Centre Oncology Dept., MacMillan Nurses and the John Taylor Hospice Tim has done other long distance rides before on vintage machines for charity but this will be the longest in time taken and miles.Tim’s marathon run begins in Birmingham Center on Thursday and his route will take him all around England Northern Ireland Scotland including Skye and the Orkney Islands and the IOM. and will take him 7 weeks in total.
His motorcycle is a 1927 all original Vintage Royal Enfield Model 186 of 986cc fitted with a Model 22 sidecar.
Since 1957 Tim has owned, ridden or worked on over 70 different makes of British motorcycle and raced from 1958 to 84.He did his first Lands end to John O’Groats run in 1960 on a 1919 Model H Triumph, and his first Round Britain run in 1978 in aid of Cystic Fibrosis on a 1927 Scott 600cc; completing 3,600 miles in 8 days and being awarded the Dreadnaught Trophy by the VMCC.
