NORTON COMMANDER. 588 CC. WANKEL ROTARY ENGINE. 1988-1992

The Norton Commander is a motorcycle made by Norton Motors.
Two types of Commander were built. The first, code-named P52, was a single-seat model equipped for police use. Norton offered this as a successor to its air-cooled Interpol 2 model. The second version of the Commander, code-named P53, was a dual-seat model sold as a civilian tourer.
Both the P52 and P53 had panniers built into their fibreglass bodywork. This gave a neat appearance but on the civilian model it was an inconvenience to touring riders who preferred detachable luggage. The P53 bodywork was therefore revised: later examples were equipped with detachable Krauser K2 panniers instead.
Early P53’s were offered in only one livery: "Westminster grey" (a dark metallic grey) with scarlet decals. Krauser-equipped P53’s were offered in a choice of liveries.
