Vincent Black Lightning 1966
(With apologies to Richard Thompson for plagiarising his song title)
From a walk starting at Wetton, then down the (very muddy) valley to the river, and up through Ladyside Wood (very wearying) to Grindon.
Then north, past the church on the dead-end road to Ossoms Farm, and on the path round Ossom’s Hill, down to the river at Wetton Mill. (Good views from the path round Ossom’s Hill).
Back via the path over the short neck of land by Wetton Mill and then up to ‘Manor House’ and over the saddle of Wetton Hill.
This rather fine motorcycle, parked at Wetton Mill, appears to be a modernised Vincent Black Lightning, with a 1966 registration plate. Unlike the original it has modern (though drum) brakes and telescopic dampers.
I guess some company must have the rights to produce modern versions of this iconic bike?
I am not a bike enthusiast, but it would be interesting to learn more about this.
