Indian Scout RSD Flat Track Racers

ROLAND SANDS DESIGN RACES SUPERHOOLIGAN SCOUT INTO VENUES ACROSS THE U.S.
Sponsored by Indian Motorcycle

Team RSD hits the track on Indian Scout Sixty custom racers

MINNEAPOLIS (February 5, 2016) — Roland Sands Design is inviting riders ready for handlebar-to-handlebar flat track racing to join them in a series of SuperHooligan events across the U.S. Team RSD will race custom SuperHooligan Indian® Scout® Sixty dirt trackers racers that made their debut at the “Superprestigio of the Americas” in Las Vegas last year.

Look for the RSD SuperHooligan Indian Scout Sixty race bikes Feb. 12-14 at The One Show in Portland, Ore., Feb. 19-21 at Mama Tried in Milwaukee, Wis., in early March during Bike Week in Daytona, Fla., March 19 at IV Flat Track Del Mar in Del Mar, Calif., and April 8 at the Hand Built Show in Austin, TX.

“We had a gas racing the Scout Super Hooligans in Las Vegas, so we really wanted to hit the road and do some more, similar events with riders from around the country,” said Roland Sands. “At the same time, Indian Motorcycle said it was excited about putting the Scouts on the track, so it was a natural fit to help promote these Hooligan events where we could ride!”

The spirit of hooligan racing comes from a simpler time, when you raced – and could ride home on – any bike you owned. With its roots in Southern California motorcycle culture, today’s flat track hooligan racing category is rapidly gaining in popularity with riders of all ages and experience levels across the nation by offering the fun of motorcycle competition in a less structured environment. Combining the craft of custom motorcycles and racing the SuperHooligan rules are loose and limit the bikes to 750CC and up twins in stock frames with dirt track tires and no front brakes.

The RSD SuperHooligan Indian Scout Sixty bikes first hit the track in November 2015, in conjunction with the
“Superprestigio of the Americas” flat track race sanctioned by AMA Pro Flat Track. Racers included Roland Sands,
Drake McElroy, Travis Newbold, Brendon Lutes and Aaron Colton. All five bikes competed through to the class’ main event and Roland himself finished third, taking Indian Motorcycle to its first podium finish in AMA flat track in many years. The Indian Scout Hooligan Racers made a spectacular debut at the Port of Long Beach: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Vq-ybNVYmg

DONINGTON CLASSIC BIKE FEST 2015: THE LEGENDS PARADE

Here is the feature event of the 2015 Donington Park CRMC festival – the parade of legendary motorcycles and riders, including 3 times World Champion Freddie Spencer, 6 times World Champion Jim Redman, Ron Haslam, Niall Mackenzie, and former British Champion Steve Parrish

Bikes include a number of the George Beale “Honda 6” replicas, a Gilera 4 cylinder GP 500, a multitude of RG500 Suzukis including a couple in the colours of 2 times 500cc World Champ Barry Sheene. There were John Player Nortons, 3 Honda RS500’s, various Yamahas including a Rainey YZR500, and a Dave Potter TZ750.

Others included a Max Biaggi NSR250, plus dozens of other marques . . . easily the best gaggle of machines I have ever seen, and the paddock suite had even more on static. More video coming from this event soon, including action from the regular CRMC club racers and their machines!

There would have been even more start-up action from the Honda 6 machines but the video camera was throwing up weird error messages when the 6 fired up – the excessive noise from the bike seemed to effect the workings of the camera and was making it difficult to write data to the hard drive, so some footage was lost sadly! I hope to get another opportunity soon to film this incredible machine.
