Matchless G15CS 1965 Restoration



A 1965 Matchless G15CS restoration. The G15 was a marriage of the sturdy Matchless frame and the powerful 750cc Norton Atlas engine. These bikes are also known as the Hybrids, and it came in a Norton varitant as well, N15CS. About 7500 hybrids were built 1964-1968 as the touring version Mk. II, the CS scrambler, the CSR Café Racer and finally the Norton P11. Most of the Hybrids were export for the US market. The CS was born for desert scrambling, but was mainly a street scrambler building on the desert sled style. At 210 kgs dry, these bikes took brave men to scramble anyway. The sound clip of the running engine is the first start after restoration, and the engine still needed fine tuning as can be heard.
