A fisherman turned midwife after he helped deliver a pregnant stingray’s pups seconds after catching it. Calvin Conger, 18, was about to use the ray as shark bait when he noticed another stinger sticking out of it. His father, Terry Conger, instinctively pushed down on it, and they all watched on as a baby stingray popped out. Calvin’s mother, Valerie Conger, caught the incredible moment on camera, while his girlfriend, Hannah Harris, cooed in the background. Calvin was out fishing with his family in Port Charlotte, Florida when the incredible event occurred. All three stingrays were released into the water after the amazing ordeal that lasted only a few minutes.

I never knew stingrays gave live birth
This looks so wierd
um no sorry but this fucker was not at all helping the sting ray but rather hurting it in the process. Let nature take it's course
im retty sure baby sting rays need their mother for protection so there was no point to doing that their chances of living was cut shorter now.

Awwww this is so cute I'm crying😭😭😭😭
Guy traumatises infant sting ray by shooting it out of its mothers vagina onto the hard decking of a boat. Top guy.
What a hero.. Unless an animal is in serious need of help why touch them? They've been giving birth for years without humans.. I felt like he set them up for death..
sooooo cute omg
Aw wow wow so cute!!!😄😄😘😘😘❤️❤️❤️
omg so cute😆
That is so cute I want a baby stingray
Awww that was brave
So many butt hurt people in the comments. At least the guy spared their lives. He could've easily used them as bait like he intended. The vid cuts off with them swimming off in the same direction. Schrodinger's cat situation here. You don't know if they survived or died. So people, be happy with the miracle of birth and the release of the animals and just chill out.
omaigood
Everyone in the comment section please… read this and think.
The video starts with the baby stingray already emerging from the mother, for those of you saying the fisherman was cruel for not releasing it into the ocean for it to give birth, he probably didn't know it was pregnant until the moment he saw a baby emerging from its womb. The last thing I would think of doing to a creature giving birth would be throwing it a couple of meters into the water…
Pushing against the mother was probably to get the babies out quick so he could get them and the mother into the water before they died from not being able to breath, for those of you complaining about how the stingray may have been hurt by him pressing its belly.
The man did what he thought would help the stingray, whether it put stress on it or not, it and its babies survived, therefore I'd call this a success. You know, he could have easily used it AND its babies as bait, or just released its babies and kept the mother as bait as he originally intended. Clearly the man cares about sea life as he wanted the babies to have their mothers protection, even though she would have made great bait for him.
Also anyone complaining about him using sting ray as bait… or even complaining about him fishing… fishing is a normal thing, as long as we aren't overfishing and the population stays stable, what is the issue? I have found that the fisherman I know care deeply about ocean life, and really do care about the health of the creatures living in it. Just because they 'hunt' them, does not mean they don't appreciate them and want them to live healthy lives.
Awwwwww 0w0 😍
