So going from a sport bike to this bike, how well does it handle in the curves? I live right in the heart of the mountains in SC, NC, and GA so my main worry about getting a Octane is that it wont do very well in the curves.
Understand your points, but it seems they are more about differences from the sport bike you came off of. The FZ is such a different type of machine, it really isn't fair to even compare. I have ridden both and several others. The Octane is an excellent choice for a guy switching from sport type bike to cruiser. Most of the shortcomings you mention are the standard of cruiser design. Different type of bike, different type of riding.
The "supercharger" sound is more than likely is the starter being engaged all the time! My 2012 r1 had that chirp and I hated it, at idle that's all you would hear!
I agree about the silent exhaust and no under the seat compartment but most people get custom pipes and I always carry a backpack since I traded up from a sports bike. The few things I don't like about my octane are:
1. The 3.5 Gal gas tank and range. I was used to a 200+ mile range on my previous bike and my previous bike also had a gas gauge/ PMG and miles/range left. So coming to a bike with none of that info can be annoying.
2. If you park the bike wit low gas, it will either not start or take forever to start. It could be just my bike but that's my experience so far, I've been carrying 2 x litter bottles with me for a while now.
3. Your right leg will catch on fire… LOL. Here in Florida during really hot days the last thing you want to do is stop and put your right leg down, the heat is overwhelming.
Other than that, I really love my Octane, I've added a few things to it for comfort but it's mainly stock.
I think the no lock is the Victory thing. My Honda cruiser has one.
Get rotor locks.
I have an FZ-07. I am looking to trade it in and get the Octane. I do a lot of highway commuting. One of the things I dislike about the FZ-07 is the wind at 80mph, because it's a naked bike.
Does the Octane have much better wind protection? Also, how is the power on the highway? The FZ-07 has most of it's power in the low and mid RPM range. How does the Octane compare?
Great video. Thanks.
There should be one on the right of the shocks my dad has a vtx 1800 and it has one on it
RPM gauge? Steering wheel?
will be small for 6'1 guy like me?
like it!
thee steering lock is under the cowling its just a hole on the frame to put a pad lock through
that bike has self canceling turn signals
My 2013 Vic Vegas has a place on the head tube for a pad lock to lock the forks.
I like the "octane" and the "gunner" but having a hard time choosing one, any thoughts?
my 2001 suzuki c50 has a steering wheel lock so its not because its a cruiser but idk y they would do that. definitely wanna get one tho my c50 has 45 hp and 45 ft/lbs lol
RPM Gauge? Really? Steering Wheel Lock? Did you upgrade from the Handle Bar?
The Harley Night Rod Special has a Steering-Head Lock.
Might need a wheel lock.
I'm still not sure. Is that a thumbs up or a thumbs down. A lot of talk but not a real review.
It is not common for a Cruiser to not have a handle bar lock .
from my take on a victory there good bikes but definatly have a metric feel to them
One thing I dont get tho, why and what is that high pitch noise in the engine? the same on my favorite bike; the scout
asleep settle cop travel singer
so far i hate nothing, been riding bikes for 26 years and this is one of the best. everything from a 1940's harley to a hyabusa and goldwing. this bike IS motorcycling.
Given Indian's ongoing 0% apr financing for 72 months and $1000 for accessories on the Scout AND the name AND the tradition AND the color options for ABS models for 2017, there is no question where to put your money. I bought the Scout.
yea, unless you purchase the very top of the line, and even then you have to make it to your liking, you always end up doing lots of modifications on them.
I have a 2012 victory hammer and the steering lock is on the right hand side just under the front fork…
victory are nice bikes, I've ridden gunner, X3 bagger, jackpot… my main hate on victory is the forward controls (blinker lights), when I click left or right the blinker will work for 3 seconds then turn off… I am continuously checking if my blinker is on while turning becuase if I don't cars coming forward won't know I am turning… It is VERY VERY dangerous and victory NEED to address this issue.
other than that my hammer s is awesome… I also own a yamaha r1 and if you like power & speed then the hammer s with powercommander and exhaust is excellent…
