2018 Shoei Neotec 2 – Road Test and Detailed Review – Can a flip lid be cool?
I didn’t rush to get this video out as an ‘exclusive’ I wanted to give it a proper ‘Road Test’ before giving you my verdict. When it comes to modular helmets i’m a virgin, so I really needed to be convinced by this new offering from Shoei. Heres what I thought….

Excellent review Tony. Similarly, I ride with an open face Bell 500 around town trips, but also switch to my modular Caberg Duke for highway riding. Here in Thailand it can be extremely hot so when passing through towns or villages at the slow speeds, it can be nice to flip up the front briefly for some needed fresh air. I think your Shoei version has much better quality and fitment, but do you know it's crash test or 'SHARP' ratings??
Certainly looks very nice 👍🏻
A good modular helmet is a nice thing to have. I myself have the Schuberth C3Pro and I can't fault it but I would also say having an alternative full face helmet that gives you the ability to do track days or riding where aerodynamics is more of a factor it is worth investing in one of them too.
The Neotec Mk1 was the first Shoei I never got on with, gave me jaw ache when closed and felt top heavy when open. I now have a Shark Evo One which is dual certified and the chin bar flips over so it's well balanced in both configurations. Thanks for the review.
Nice vid Tony. Like I said, love my Shoei GT-Air. Any news on the new tyres?
Modulars are excellent for eye glass wearers. The only reason I have one. Who ever would ride with face up?
Just isn’t SNELL rated.
Had problems in summer with my Neotec allowing flies in the top vent, ultimately came to the conclusion I couldn't have the vent open! All rather pointless after laying large money out will be moving to the Arai X4 next purchase. Good Vlog cheers
A person would have to be pretty sad to worry about whether other people think your crash helmet is 'Cool' or not…
Tony, when you do a video on your new Continental Road Attack 3 tyres, would you please explain what parts have to be removed before you drop them off at the tyre garage for changing . Disk brakes, sprockets. . . . Etc. . . . .
Good day
I was wondering if u did a review of the schuberth C4. I need to buy a modular helmet and torn between this and the c4. Any recommendations?
Great review! Thanks 👍
