1960s NZ Motocross, Ngahinepouri: Jumps, 70mph straight! (1967, CZ, Bultaco, DOT, BSA, Ariel, JAP))

Coverage of the fast ‘Miniature TT’ motocross races at Ngahinepouri near Hamilton, New Zealand on Easter Monday of 1967.

Ngahinepouri was approx. 10 miles from Hamilton city and the miniature TT was part of a well-attended sports day, featuring fun sports for the public, Pony Club events and the motorcycle races.

The pony and motorcycle events were timed so as not to scare the horses!

Riders reached speeds of 70mph on the undulating straight.

The second of the three races shown here has a ‘handicap’ format, with the slowest riders getting a headstart.
